Position Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for organization by performing the following duties.

Job Requirements



  • Place and manage purchase orders in accordance with MRP, Kanban signals, forecast, sales orders and related planning data.
  • Monitor and understand key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks and lot sizes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, distribution, customer service and suppliers to prioritize, expedite and de-expedite purchase orders and/ or work orders based on material availability, department resources, changing requirements and customer service requirements.
  • Daily follow up on all past due items and expedites.
  • Perform daily analysis of materials needed to fulfill open Sales Orders and replenish Stock
  • Analyze production plans and plant capacity, lead times, safety stocks and lot sizes to determinate resource requirements and constraints.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Must be able to research part history and communicate with customer service on any changes, replacements, or errors.
  • Verify receipt of items; resolves shipment errors with suppliers; approves invoices as necessary.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels to the company goals at the raw, sub-assembly, WIP and finished good levels.
  • Support special projects related to material planning, purchasing, system changes and inventory management.
  • Participate in the new product development process and support supply chain planning activities at the new product level.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain/Operations focus preferred, along with 5+ years directly related experience
 
Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of MRP, Kanban, Pull system, lean manufacturing and JIT principles
  • Must be driven by On Time Delivery and able to expedite per customer requirements.
  • Successful candidates will be organized, possess great follow-up skills, and high personal accountability.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • APICs certification
  • SAP experience
