Position Summary

The Manager, Master Data Management, will provide immediate supervision to a small team responsible for master data creation, management and maintenance.  On a daily basis, the incumbent will interact with subordinates, peers, leadership, and internal customers who require support from the Master Data Management team

Job Requirements

  • Direct the daily operations of the Master Data Management team
  • Define Master Data Governance rules and controls and communicate and ensure adherence to Master Data standards cross-functionally by the enterprise
  • Ensure the policies and processes designed to protect the integrity of Customer, CRM, Vendor, Material and Pricing master databases are accurate, maintained and adhered to across the enterprise
  • Define business requirements and direct adherence to business process plans for Customer master data, including management of customer rosters, sales team alignments and other input data from third parties (GPO rosters, etc.)
  • Analysis of business processes and identify opportunities for continuous process improvements
  • Establish and maintain strong cross functional partnerships across the business
  • Interpretation and communication of work procedures and company policies to the MDM team
  • Provide coaching and development for direct reports
  • Plan, prepare, and devise work schedules to ensure sufficient and effective coverage
  • Achieve and maintain key performance indicators as agreed with senior management
  • Analyze team metrics to determine output, effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Attract, hire and retain talent for the team
  • Evaluate performance of staff and address performance issues as they arise
  • Ensure that all requests are valid, accurate and completed in the expected time frame
  • Maintain procedural documentation and training materials to reflect all current procedures as well as systematic updates and variations
  • Responsible for communication and training across the enterprise with respect to master data standards, definitions, processes and tools to business data owners and specialists
  • Primary contact with IT & 3 party technical resources for all master data
  • Investigates data quality errors from order to cash and manages remediation with impacted teams

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Small team of Master Data Analysts

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent  
Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in directly supervising a team and being accountable for their individual development and performance or equivalent documented experience
  • 5 years of progressive enterprise information management experience with a focus on master data management
  • Experience with mass data load tools such as Winshuttle and SQL
  • Experience with commercial-oriented data such as customer, products & sales alignments in ERP, CRM, and BW systems
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Quality Management and Data Architecture Standardization with implementation of a new Master Management program
  • Strong customer focus, internal and external
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Decisive, comfortable with decisions that impact business processes, relational data bases and transactional processes
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Solid presentation / influence skills
  • Possess a high sense of urgency
  • Collaborates effectively across functions

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • Demonstrated experience with Master Data (Customer Master, Product Master, Pricing, etc.)
  • Experienced with and proficient in all Microsoft Office suite applications (WORD, EXCEL, Power Point)
  • Skilled with large data set manipulation tools (vlookup, pivot tables, data modeling, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement results using lean practices
  • Familiar with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Price condition master data experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Power BI
