Position Summary

The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for the design, implementation, communication, and administration of all compensation, retirement, wellness and benefits.  This role will be responsible for directing the analysis, design, implementation and administration of base and variable pay programs and group benefits.  This position ensures that benefits programs are competitive and support overall corporate strategic direction and support the needs of the business entities.  Day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the group benefits programs includes group medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, workers compensation, life insurance, accident plan, flexible spending plan and 401(k) retirement plan.  Serves as primary contact for benefit plan, brokers and third-party administrators. 

Job Requirements

  • Consult with senior management to ensure compensation and benefits programs enable and support the talent strategy of the organization and business needs and provide guidance on solving complex business problems
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, management, and administration of compensation and benefits programs and practices including the following:
  • Develop base pay programs targeted to address competitive needs and pay equity
  • Develop incentive programs aligned to corporate results
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to executives, managers, team members, and other professionals regarding compensation recommendations, strategy, administration, procedures and policies, and communication
  • Review, assess, and develop strategies, programs, and delivery technologies including benchmarking against external practices
  • Oversee program documentation and compliance to legal requirements, processes, and procedures
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of the compensation and benefit team.
  • Develops long-range objectives regarding compensation, benefit and wellness programs.
  • Monitor compensation and benefits expenditure budgets.
  • Communicates to Director of HR about upcoming trends in compensation and benefits.
  • Analyze survey data, and recommend and implement competitive pay programs.
  • Design, manage, and implement base pay structures that support company philosophy, and attract and retain qualified workforce.
  • Evaluates and revises processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Ensures proper distribution of assignments – plans, schedules and directs workloads.
  • Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required 5500 filings.
  • Educate associates on self-service tools applicable to benefits.
  • Manage the entire open enrollment process including carrier renewals, payroll contributions, communication strategy & carrier/data feeds
  • Oversee administration of leaves of absences (STD/LTD/FMLA/WC).
  • Manage the design and development of tools to assist associates in benefits selection
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

Required Education

Bachelor's degree

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with compensation and benefit strategy development, financial management and related execution
  • Experience with business partnering, consulting, and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present views and data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Business insight and familiarity with corporate finance methodologies
  • Ability to think and communicate strategically with solid customer focus and ability to effectively and quickly build relationships that establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • 6+ years’ experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and some knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and legislation required
  • Knowledge of national benefits trends
  • Solid self-motivated work ethic and ability to work well in team environment

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) / Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
  • Ability to work extended hours based on business needs, including weekend hours.
  • On occasion, ability to travel to attend business meetings, meet with outside agencies, vendors, clients and personnel.
