Position Summary

The Account Manager is primarily responsible for working closely with the National Accounts Team to support and help drive expansion opportunities in the current customer base at the local level. The Account Manager is responsible for consistently providing proactive and unparalleled customer service to accounts, as well as representing client needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality.  In addition, the Account Manager scouts for competitive activity and reports findings to the Sales Director, Director of Corporate Accounts and Vice President of Long Term Acute Care Hospital.

Job Requirements



  • Works closely in supporting the National Corporate Accounts team with managing the ongoing facility based relationships, facility based issues and issue resolution.
  • Understands that 60% of time spent needs to be focused on retention, 20% on growth selling activities with the remaining 20% of time spent on planning and administrative responsibilities.
  • Effectively uses sales tools (CRM) to manage calendar, customer appointments and sales call results.
  • Understands pre-call planning process and customer follow-up. Documents customer activity in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates basic product understanding and ability to provide both product demonstrations and in-servicing (knows what product best fits clinical need by market segment).
  • Travels frequently, visiting and meeting with current customers to uncover same store sales to expand the business within each account
  • Supports field based sales activities such as customer implementations, product in-servicing, product trials and product demonstrations.

Required Education

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrates good time management and call execution skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. 
  • Proficient with MS Office, MS Outlook and Sales Force (SFDC).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in working with internal and external associates – treating all issues and people fairly.

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • Clinical background
  • Minimum 1 year of medical sales experience preferably in the post-acute market space
